The Core Curriculum
Fellowship Christian Academy’s Core Curriculum is based on the educational goals and objectives that have been set by the State of Texas and adopted by the Fellowship Christian Academy Educational Board of Directors. In the core curriculum, students move from concrete experiences to increasingly complex levels of abstraction in critical thinking. Curriculum guides have been developed for each grade level and course in every subject area and are aligned to both the Texas and National Standards.
Teaching Intentionally
Teachers model and instruct in a manner that encourages the natural inquisitiveness of students as they set high academic expectations through authentic learning experiences. Instruction is balanced between hands-on, project-based learning and content skills emphasis within a bibliocentric worldview. Students are taught to think critically as they learn to synthesize and apply their learning. More than mastering knowledge; true learning consists of mastering higher level cognitive thinking skills in order to use knowledge to impact culture and the world for the good of mankind and the glory of God. Fellowship Christian Academy teachers are highly trained professional educators who utilize best-practice methodologies based on the latest educational research in teaching and learning, gifted and talented, and technology integration to foster authentic learning. Teachers teach across the curriculum making interdisciplinary connections as they utilize the Texas Performance Based Standards for project-based learning. The tasks are aligned with the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills and provide students with learning experiences that open-ended, authentic, and student-centered to create life-long learners.
Purposeful Learning
Our central focus in curriculum and instruction is to ensure that students have educational experiences that prepare them to perform well at a high school college preparatory level and impact them as a life-long learner. The use of authentic assessments within an academically rigorous curriculum include such things as performance, drama, representation of learning with artifacts, and standardized testing are promoted at Fellowship Christian Academy as we strive for transformational learning for all students.
