CLASSES OFFERED

All Fine Arts Institute Classes are available for Elementary & Middle School aged students only. Enrollment is open to FCA and non-FCA students except where noted.

 

Percussion

Percussion students will learn basic to advanced drum rudiments and perform as a group throughout the school year. All students will be taught both traditional and match grip and will be primarily grouped by ability. Every student will be taught as an individual and lessons/goals will be personalized.  

All students will need to purchase their own drumsticks to be used for home practice. Students will use our sticks and drums/pads at their lessons. All students will be expected to practice at home at least 2-3 days per week.

 

 

FCA Band (FCA students only)

The FCA Band consists of percussion and wind instruments (flute, saxophone, clarinet, trumpet, and trombone.) It is open, by audition, to students in 4th grade and up. This program is offered at no cost to current FCA students, however, students will need to purchase and maintain their own instruments. Students will be expected to practice at home at least 2-3 days per week. 

 

 

Wind (3rd - 8th grade)

Wind Instrument lessons (flute, saxophone, clarinet, trumpet, and trombone) are highly recommended for all students who audition and are selected for band. Students will work on sight reading, theory, technique, group, and solo performance. Students will need to purchase and maintain their own instruments. Students will be expected to practice at home at least 2-3 days per week.

 

 

Piano

Students will be instructed using the Alfred Piano curriculum in piano theory and performance. Students will learn relevant piano and music terms. All students will work on reading music as well as theory and technique.

Every student will be taught as an individual and lessons/goals will be personalized. There is an emphasis on Christian music, but students will be able to explore several genres including classical, gospel and jazz. Students will be expected to practice at home regularly.

 

 

Voice

Voice students will spend time each week doing vocal exercises to learn breath control, proper enunciation and to increase their vocal range. They will also regularly work on ear training, stage presence and proper tone production.

Every student will be taught as an individual and lessons/goals will be personalized. There is an emphasis on Christian music, but students will be able to explore several genres including classical, gospel and jazz. Students will be expected to practice at home regularly.

 

 

Guitar (3rd - 8th grade)

Guitar students will work on chords, simple songs, and melodies, sight reading, stage presence, and theory. The guitar book used varies by instructor. All students are required to purchase their own guitar and it must be brought to class every week.

Every student will be taught as an individual and lessons/goals will be personalized. There is an emphasis on Christian music, but students will be able to explore several genres. Students will be expected to practice at home regularly.

 


Dance Classes

FCA Fine Arts is pleased to host Essence Dance Co. classes on the campus of Fellowship Christian Academy. This program is coordinated by Mrs. Avis Sauls and is offered to FCA and Non-FCA Students in grades Kinder to Eighth grade.

 


CLASS PROTOCOL 

 

Make-up Lessons

Tuition covers one 30 min class per week. Dance classes meet two days per week for an hour and a half. Fine Arts Institute Classes are made up due to instructor absences only. Fine Arts classes are not made up due to school closings, student absences, field trips or inclement weather.

 

 

Student Expectations

Every student is expected and required to practice their instrument regularly. Instructors will help with personalized practice routines. Regular practice is extremely important to the success of ALL students. All students must be willing to regularly practice their instruments at home.

 

 

All students must purchase a ½ inch 3-ring binder for their lessons
